We offer two ways to dine:

15-Course Tasting Experience: A curated, seasonal 15-course tasting  experience served at our shared counter.

À La Carte (ALC): Order freely from our menu at your own pace.

How long is the experience?

Tasting Experience: Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

À La Carte: No time limit. Guests are welcome to enjoy their meal at their own pace.

What is the price of the tasting menu?

The tasting menu is $115 per person, plus tax and a 20% service charge.

Reservations are required and offered at a 7:00 PM flat seating.

Do you offer vegetarian or vegan options?

Tasting Experience: We are unable to offer vegetarian or vegan options.

À La Carte: Yes, we offer limited vegetarian-friendly options.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

Due to the nature of our cuisine:

We cannot accommodate:

- Soy allergies

- No rice requests

- Requests to omit specific fish for preference

- Cooking fish or shellfish that is traditionally served raw

For the tasting menu, we are generally unable to accommodate dietary restrictions. If you have questions prior to booking, please email info@marusandc.com.

Is there a service charge?

Yes. A 20% service charge is added to tasting menu reservations at the time of purchase.

Can I bring my own sake or wine?

Yes. Corkage is $50 per bottle.

Corkage is not permitted for items currently offered on our menu.

Do you offer large group dining?

We do not accommodate large parties. The only option for bigger groups is a full restaurant buyout.

Can I walk in for the tasting menu?

No. The tasting experience must be reserved in advance via Resy. Reservations are released two months in advance.

À la carte seating may accept walk-ins depending on availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

Reservations are non-refundable within 7 days of the reservation time.

This policy allows us to source the freshest ingredients and honor the preparation efforts of our culinary team. We appreciate your understanding.

Can I transfer my reservation?

Yes. Reservations may be transferred to another guest.

What happens if I am late?

We cannot guarantee the full tasting menu for guests arriving more than 15 minutes late.

Because this is a synchronized counter experience, we ask all guests to arrive on time so we may begin together.

What is the parking situation?

Limited street parking.

There are two paid parking lots nearby.

The Eastern Market Metro station is within a 1-minute walk.

Is the restaurant accessible?

All seating is at a shared counter.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Gift cards are available on our website via Toast.

Is there a dress code?

There is no formal dress code. We encourage our guests to dress comfortably.

Why is strong perfume discouraged?

Because this is an intimate counter dining experience, strong fragrances can affect the sensory experience of other guests.

Perfume is welcome — we simply ask that it be worn lightly.

Are children allowed?

Children are welcome. However, as a small restaurant located in Capitol Hill, space is limited. Please be aware of a few limitations:

- We are counter seating only

- We do not have high chairs

- The space is intimate and cannot accommodate strollers

Does Maru San have a Guest Code of Conduct?

As this is a shared dining experience, guests are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward the chef, staff, and fellow diners.

Guests removed due to misconduct will forfeit any prepayments and will not be eligible for a refund.
